108 parks. That’s how many organized parks (approximately) there are in the Ontario Provincial Parks system. I picked up a copy of the Ontario Parks guide at Mountain Equipment Co-op the other day and I’ve been reading about all the parks and what they have to offer. The first thing that struck me was the geographic diversity we have here in Ontario. Rocky parks, sandy parks, deep lakes, shallow lakes, mountainous areas and open plains. Seriously, how cool is that.
The next thing that struck me was the sheer size of our province, and how little is inhabited (densley, at least).
I have a plan to visit all 108 parks within a given time period, but given that I work for a living and have limited vacation time, and that many of the parks aren’t exactly close enough for a weekend trip, I’m having trouble coming up with a realistic end-date. How long do you think it would take me to visit all 108 parks?

The rest of your life.
hey, I’m there with ya Dave. But you have to start taking advantage of opportunities to check out new places. I.E., stop going to Bon Echo for week-end camping trips!
Bon Echo is relatively close, and we know it well. If I thought that all my friends would want to drive to Inverhuron for the weekend, I’d recommend that. Basically I’m pandering to the “that’s too far!” whiners.
So… how about it? Next weekend? Inverhuron?
How long do you think it’ll take to hit ‘em all?
So what you’re saying is that we’re not going to your cottage for the Civic holiday?
We never were. Civic is July 30-August 2. Cottage weekend is August 6-9.
My parents are using the cottage for Civic.
