About Dave

Being born in the last few years of the 1970’s means that I was a product of a 1980’s childhood (rife with GI Joe and lawn darts) and an adolescence marked by the bleakness of grunge and the awesomeness of suburban hip-hop.

I briefly attended the University of Ottawa, and then attended the University of Waterloo for slightly longer. We parted on amicable terms, but only barely. It was there, through a series of unusual events, that I found my love for writing in its various forms.

Although I work as a professional corporate communicator by day, my career is merely a cover for my nefarious outside interests in writing, art, and faith.

I attribute my unusual writing to the balance between a twisted mind and pure soul, but my friends and family like to think it’s more of a balance between madman and genius… simply put, I’m an idiot savant.

In addition to my title of ‘writer’, my passions and pursuits have honoured me with other titles, listed here in order of importance to me:

  • husband
  • father (of two awesome boys)
  • musician
  • hobby handyman
  • photographer

Feel free to look me up on Facebook. I can’t promise that I’ll add you as a friend, but I can promise you that I’ll think about it. The same goes for my account on Twitter, which is updated with a post annually.

According to the fine folks at Google Analytics, some of my more popular posts on here include a listing of Subway’s Daily Deal specials and an in-depth explanation of how to install David’s Batch Processor (DBP) for GIMP in Linux.

In Georgia it’s $3.99 and you get a 6 inch sub with a drink and either chips or two cookies.

    can’t beat that!

  4. Duncan,

So this is how you’ve been spending your time? Nice ain’t it. How are things after BMO sent you on sabbatical? Good on my end. Went to teacher’s college in Buffalo (what an awful town) and back teaching high school. Now need to land a gig brother.

Hey give this a listen. I think you’ll enjoy it. Drop me a line and a call sometime. You have to do live karaoke next year.

It is the November 12 Podcast. That’s right. The new Sr. Black Correspondent on CFRB. How about that for a handle.

  5. Hey Dave, Just read the Bedbugs post and your “about me”. This is a pure happenstance meeting, I’m way down in Texas, do have some almost forgotten distant family in your area but, no need to go there.
I was actually checking google to see if my short, inxperienced blog could be found. It was not, but yours was, so, I checked it out. I was searching for “Sleep Tight and Bedbugs!” I’d like you stop by have a look. Mines’ just a childhood memory story for pleasure, not so matter of factly written as your own. Haved a great day. LLoyd Duncan
